The Tennessee Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services (TDMHSAS), Division of Substance Abuse Services (DSAS) is partnering with local school districts to support this statewide student survey. The survey will assess the extent of alcohol, drug, and tobacco, and prescription drug misuse among 8th, 10, and 12th grade students in Tennessee. The results help to evaluate the impact of prevention efforts aimed at reducing substance abuse.
Survey procedures have been designed to protect the child’s privacy by allowing for anonymous participation. The student will not put his/her name on the survey and will not be required to answer any question he/she deems sensitive. Participation is strictly voluntary.
Responses to the survey will be used to provide information to your school district about students' use of tobacco (including e-cigarettes), alcohol, drugs, and misuse of prescription drugs.
