MAPC Participates in Tennessee's Day of Hope
The MPD Heroin Overdose Response Team has investigated over 120 opioid-related overdoses and up to 23 possible deaths from opioid overdoses. Memphis Area Prevention Coalition celebrated Tennessee's Day of Hope by gathering at St. Johns United Methodist Church, teaching the community how to reverse an opioid overdose with Narcan.
Tennessee Day of Hope is a statewide celebration of teaching and providing help to the community regarding mental health and substance use disorder. By practicing harm reduction and providing support and resources to the community, both sides are trying to advocate for those who typically cannot advocate for themselves.
MAPC's involvement in Tennessee's Day of Hope was incredibly successful in sending the message that no matter who you are or where you are in your journey- there is hope.
