On August 31st, Knoxville came together to remember those lost to overdose and other drug-related deaths.

Overdose death does NOT have to happen!For the past 3 years at the Knoxville International Overdose Awareness Day Event, a picture has been taken for the "Faces of Recovery" Billboard. Every year, the number of people in these pictures has nearly doubled! This year that tradition continued during The Fifth Annual East TN International Overdose Awareness Day Event!

The Knoxville, TN event was hosted by Tennessee Overdose Prevention (TOP). Tennessee Overdose Prevention used Facebook Live to live stream the speakers, candlelight vigil, and the bridge turning purple using the hashtag #EndOverdoseLiveTN. The International Overdose Awareness Day Events scheduled for Nashville, Memphis, Sweetwater and Cleveland will also be posting video to unite people across the state who will be unable to attend or will be attending events in other areas.

We were honored to have speakers who are dedicated to advocacy. To highlight a few speakers, the family support speakers included Addie Parr Arbach, Rebecca Parr, Jane Crowe, Tammy Fugatt, Sharon Hajko, Janie New, and Joy Gaertner.
