Roane County Introduces Generation Rx Curriculum

Roane County Anti-Drug Coalition (RCADC) uses the Generation Rx curriculum which is provided by The Ohio State University College of Pharmacy and the Cardinal Health Foundation. The mission of Generation Rx is to educate people of all ages about the potential dangers of misusing prescription medications, and in doing so we strive to enhance medication safety among our youth and college students, as well as adults and older adults. The core message is:•Only use prescription medication as directed by a health care professional.•Never share your prescription medication with others or use someone else’s medication.•Always store your medication securely to prevent others from taking them, and properly dispose of medications that you no longer need.•Be a good example to those around you by modeling these safe medication-taking practices and discussing the dangers of misusing prescription medication with your family, friends, colleagues, or students.RCADC has presented the Generation RX curriculum in elementary schools, middle schools and high schools around the county as well during community meetings.
