UTK Spreads Awareness Through Social Media & A Trivia Cab

The Center for Health Education and Wellness (CHEW) at the University of Tennessee – Knoxville participated in National Drug and Alcohol Facts Week (NDAFW). The goal was to engage the UT community by making the content relatable and interesting. A fun and engaging social media campaign was created that focused on a different substance for each day of the week. The campaign involved graphics of facts, trivia questions, videos, and memes. Social media posts were also used to advertise for the National Institute on Drug Abuse’s (NIDA) Drug & Alcohol Chat Day which allowed students to anonymously ask questions about alcohol and other drugs to be posted to the web chat. Finally, staff from CHEW and Vols 2 Vols Peer Health Educators hosted the #TriviaCab!, an event that was a play on the show Cash Cab. Students were picked up in golf carts and driven to class or another on-campus destination. During the ride, students were asked trivia questions pertaining to alcohol and other drugs and each participant received a free t-shirt and a healthy snack for participating! NDAFW provided a great opportunity for CHEW to actively engage the UT community!
