Power of Putnam had the opportunity to participate in the National Drug Take Back event on October 29th. They set up at 5 different locations within Putnam County and with the help of law enforcement and volunteers, collected 847 pounds of unused, expired or unwanted medication! Each site had great success with collecting the medications from community members and are thankful to everyone who came out and participated.
Two new locations, Infinity Pharmacy and Food City, had the opportunity to collaborate with local radio stations 106.3 Kicks Country and 94.7 The Country Giant. Both stations went live during the event and advertised all 5 take back locations in the area. They also organized giveaways with 5 lucky individuals walking away with $100 and also a winner for tickets to Dollywood.
Afterwards, a photo was taken at the Putnam County Police Department with the multiple barrels of medication that was collected that day.
Power of Putnam continues its support for helping get unused, expired or unwanted medications out of the hands of others by advertising the permanent drop-off location sites located throughout Putnam County on their social media. Follow them on their Facebook for more information on permanent location sites and also how you can get involved in the next event!
